As a pet parent, there are some very specific things that I look for in a vehicle. Because of this, I’ve had a tendency to rule out vehicle models (and even makes) where I feel my dog transportation needs won’t be met. When you think of the MINI brand you most likely picture fairly small vehicles. It’s certainly what I thought, but my opinion changed dramatically when I was recently up close and personal with the MINI Countryman. The MINI Countryman bucks that small car image offering the biggest vehicle in the MINI range. It’s classed as a subcompact luxury crossover SUV, so how well can it work as a dog friendly car?
Dog friendly features of the MINI Countryman
- One of the first things I noticed about the Countryman is the large trunk size. You don’t need to own a chihuahua or other toy breed for your dog to fit comfortably in this car. In fact, medium to large size dogs have plenty of space so they can also enjoy the journey.
- I love the fact that the MINI Countryman has a hatchback body style. The optional electric tailgate means you can move your foot to open the trunk, leaving your hands free to take care of your pup. This makes it a breeze to get a dog in and out of the vehicle.
- Taking a tour around town I notice that it has a really smooth ride. Ideal for those dogs who are nervous travellers. In fact, it was so smooth, my dog was asleep before we got to the end of the block.
- An important bonus is the fact that Travall makes a full range of car accessories for the MINI Countryman, including its world-renowned Travall Guard, Divider and the fabulous new TailGate. Having a premium pet barrier available gives complete peace of mind for the driver – a secure, comfortable position for my dog at the rear of the MINI and fewer distractions for me. Louise of Pink Pear Bear blog wrote a review about the Travall Guard in her MINI Countryman. Find out what she and her labrador, Hendrix, thought here.
