It’s the start of National Work Life Week! As a result, we’re offering some commuting tips to improve your work-life balance that won’t impact your productivity. We’re focussing on how to make your commute more bearable. With 57% of the British population commuting to work by car and on average spending more than a year of their life doing so, we thought this would be a good place to start.
Tip 1 – Embrace routine
We know that routine can feel repetitive, but a simple regime saves precious minutes and can reduce stress. You’ll know exactly what you need to do in the morning, so you’ll spend less time frantically rushing around. This is especially true if you have children and have to factor the dreaded school run into your commute too! In fact, we wrote about that very topic in a previous post on how to make the school run easier.
Tip 2 – Travall products to protect your car
Another of our commuting tips is to make sure your vehicle is adequately protected throughout the journey. It’s unlikely you’ll be off-roading on your way to work, but a lengthy daily commute can be just as taxing. Travall’s protective accessories are designed to the exact specifications of each vehicle for a perfect fit.
The Travall Mats are a great upgrade over the standard mats that come with your vehicle. They offer a premium, durable and waterproof finish. Next time you spill your coffee, all you need to do is simply remove the mats and hose them down. This is particularly useful if you’re travelling with kids.
Tip 3 – Relax
A lot of us spend our home-bound commute thinking or worrying about work-related events that have occurred throughout the day. In reality, this has no positive impact on productivity and makes the return journey feel like an extension of the working day. Remember, “time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time”. The origins of this quote are unclear, but its message is a great one. So one of my favourite commuting tips is to take the time to completely switch off from work. This way you’ll soon start to look forward to your commute. Your favourite music is a brilliant way to unwind, but why not consider getting lost in a great audiobook or learning something new from an educational podcast?
Tip 4 – Install a Travall Guard and Divider
For the last of our commuting tips we recommend installing a Travall Guard and a Travall Divider. Not only will these accessories drastically increase your vehicle’s loading capacity, but also allow you to make the best use of the available space in your vehicle. The divider is great for separating items that don’t mix – think food shopping and gym kit! Both are quick and easy to install, as well as remove when necessary, leaving you more time to enjoy yourself away from work.
