The importance of keeping our kids safe when they\u2019re passengers is something that we can all agree on. Here at Travall, we\u2019re advocates for Child Passenger Safety Week. I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve seen safety segments on TV and articles in your local newspapers or on the internet in regards to what you can do to help protect your kids. I know my local news is talking about our local National Seat Check Saturday location.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is National Seat Check Saturday?
\n<\/strong>It\u2019s a set Saturday of the year where various organizations team up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to check car and booster seat installations. The NHTSA knows that car and booster seats save children\u2019s lives and properly installed seats are a must!<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the NHTSA\u2019s Traffic Safety Facts from June 2015<\/a>, child restraint systems (car and booster seats) are often used incorrectly. This includes issues like loose straps, improperly placed clips, cracked plastic and even the wrong seat for your child\u2019s height and\/or age. An estimated 46%<\/strong> of car and booster seats (59% of car seats and 20% of booster seats) are misused in a way that could reduce their effectiveness.<\/span><\/p>\n

That info is straight from their National Child Restraint Use Special Study<\/a>. I don\u2019t know about you, but that information makes me want to have my nephews\u2019 seats checked out ASAP!<\/span><\/p>\n

Who should check your seat?
\n<\/strong>The NHTSA wants you to have your car or booster seat installation checked by a certified technician. (You could train\u00a0to be one<\/a>!)<\/span>

There will be many local events for National Seat Check Saturday this weekend on Saturday, September 23. The actual number in your area will vary. If you can, we suggest making the time to have your seat\/s checked out.<\/span><\/p>\n
