Top 5 Road Trip Destinations for Memorial Day Weekend 2019

Published by Travall (May 14, 2019)

Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner, and if you’re like any of us, you can’t wait to kick off summer with the 3-day weekend!

While it is coming up on us fast, I’m willing to bet some of you have been too busy to plan anything. Have no fear, we’ve done the leg work and picked out 5 of our favorite spots across the US that we deem last minute road-trip worthy. If you can get to one of the following spots, we can guarantee an adventurous weekend for the whole gang!

Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri

Nestled in the heart of Missouri’s hills, the Lake of the Ozarks offers something for everyone; boating and water sports, equestrian activities, hiking, camping, swimming, caves, extensive shopping, and a great mix of midwestern nightlife. Bring the pup for a swim but remember to administer some type of flea and tick prevention prior – especially if you plan on camping! With restaurant bars scattered all over the shoreline, your weekend at the lake can be as lively or laid back as you want it to be.

PS – If you’ve seen Ozark on Netflix, keep in mind that it’s a TV show and while the lake is beautiful in the show, its 100x more beautiful in real life!

Olympic National Park, Washington

Olympic National Park is massive, covering 1,442 square miles. Home to over four dozen peaks that soar more than 6,500 feet, and over 600 miles of scenic trails, you won’t ever run out of things to explore! Visit for endless waterfalls, beach combing, lake activities, hiking, climbing and more. While you’re out there, keep an eye out for wildlife like mountain goats, marmots, Roosevelt elk, bald eagles and possibly even the spout of a whale offshore.

Plymouth, Massachusetts

The Mayflower II is a replica of the 17th-century ship Mayflower, celebrated for transporting the Pilgrims to the New World. The ship is docked at the State Pier in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Plymouth is known for being “America’s Hometown” for its great prominence in American history and culture.

It doesn’t get much more American than Plymouth, Massachusetts, the anchor site of the first Pilgrim settlement. You’ve got plenty of options for how to spend your weekend in this New England state – water sports, whale watching, golfing, trolly tours, hiking, or munching on some delish fresh seafood. Dive into American history and visit Plymouth plantation or tour some of the homes of original Mayflower passengers.

Lake Travis, Texas

The single most visited vacation destination in Texas, Lake Travis offers a similar weekend experience as you would receive at the Lake of the Ozark, except done to Texas standards. You know what they say – everything is bigger in Texas! Here you will find shopping, restaurants, vineyards, craft breweries, spirit distilleries, live music, golf and waterparks in abundance on the shoreline. Soak up the big open Texas sky and guaranteed heat that will keep you in the water all day. Just a short drive outside of the state’s capital, we recommend staying in Austin and enjoying the lively city by night.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Have a pleasant Memorial Day weekend taking in the sights of Mount Pleasant. Activities range from fishing off the pier in Shem Creek Park to touring the Charles Pinckney National Historic Site. Soak up the history of the city when walking the grounds of the Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens. With highs averaging 80 degrees Fahrenheit in May, Mount Pleasant offers the perfect environment for a hike on the trails of Laurel Hill County Park or a boat tour with Knot Stressed Charters.

We’d like to say thank you to all the troops who have given their lives serving our country. Wherever you decide to go for your Memorial Day weekend, look for the local services or parades that are going on during the holiday weekend.

So, what are you waiting for? Is your car road trip ready with the Travall Guard and Divider? Order yours today to make packing and unpacking the car easier so you can focus on enjoying your Memorial Day Weekend trip!
