Ask anyone you know to name a car brand and many will immediately say “Ford.” The Ford Motor Company was started in 1902 in Dearborn, Michigan in the United States by Henry Ford and according to a Ford press release1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0had a worldwide revenue of\u00a0$151.8 billion in 2016. It is a company that has certainly been able to weather changes in the automotive industry since the days of its founder, Henry Ford. Many people are familiar with the famous quote from Henry Ford, that \u201cAny customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants so long as it is black.\u201d\u00a0 There are lots of other quotes by Henry Ford that you may not have heard but are very relevant today. \u00a0Here at Travall we produce various models of dog guard for Ford, so it’s a brand that interests us. \u00a0We thought we\u2019d share some of these and other fun manufacturer facts about the Ford Motor Company that you may not have heard.<\/span><\/p>\n

Did you know?<\/span><\/h4>\n

Henry Ford\u2019s quote about the colour of the vehicle is not entirely<\/em> true for the early days of Ford vehicle production.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t until 1914 that the black paint policy was implemented. This was brought in for economic reasons, as black paint was cheaper than coloured paints and at the time black paint dried faster and was more durable, thus speeding up the production process while providing a high-quality product.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first Ford car reached a maximum speed of 30mph. This contrasts with the Ford vehicles of today, such as the Ford GT that can reach 215mph.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jim Hackett is the current CEO of Ford.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was Henry Ford who coined the term about things costing \u201can arm and a leg.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ford logo is a simple oval blue design. \u00a0It was launched in 1907 and is still in use today.<\/span><\/p>\n

Henry Ford wanted his employees to live enjoyable lives. He paid them double the going market rate and ensured that they worked fewer hours a week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ford started Kingsford Charcoal (a company selling charcoal briquettes for barbecues, etc). It was a fantastic way to use the waste charcoal material from the factory.<\/span><\/p>\n
