Here at Travall, we\u2019re all about caring for our pets to make sure they lead happy, healthy lives. Our team members are true dog lovers and naturally like to give their dogs treats. Unfortunately not all things that we humans consider to be treats are safe for dogs. So we asked our team members for their tips on the best approach to giving dogs treats.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Here\u2019s the feedback that we got:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Don\u2019ts<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Don\u2019t give dogs chocolate.\u00a0 This may be one of your favourite treats, but is extremely dangerous for a dog\u2019s health. Chocolate contains theobromine which causes vomiting and diarrhoea and in some cases can result in death.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Don\u2019t treat your dog like a Roman emperor, feeding him grapes (peeled or unpeeled).\u00a0 Grapes and raisins cause kidney failure in dogs, so it is certainly not something he should be consuming.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Don\u2019t give your dog sweets designed for humans.\u00a0 Many of these contain xylitol, which can result in liver failure in dogs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Don\u2019t give your dog sushi.\u00a0 You may crave a delicious piece of sashimi, but eating raw fish causes a vitamin B deficiency in dogs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Dos<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Do bake treats for your dog. Using our favourite dog biscuit recipe<\/a> is a great way to do this.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Do give your dog an at-home spa session.\u00a0 Keeping your dog well groomed makes him feel better, smell great and may help you spot any potential health issues earlier.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Do keep your dog\u2019s mind and body active by giving him regular walks and adding in some play or obstacles to keep him interested.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Do make sure that journeys in the car are a treat for you and your dog. This is easily achieved by adding a Travall Guard<\/a> to give Fido a secure position at the rear of the vehicle.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
