Spring is finally here! We\u2019ve already been blessed with some good weather earlier this year so hopefully that is a sign of what\u2019s to come. If you\u2019re anything like me though, any little bit of sunshine even with the mercury hovering around 15\u00b0C, you want to get out into the great outdoors. As a dog owner, Spring provides a new lease of life for you and your canine friend. Instead of short walks in the cold around your local neighbourhood, improved weather means longer ventures are more comfortable. Struggling for ideas on where to go? Here are some great places to take your dog this Spring.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lulworth Cove – Dorset<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

A gorgeous white pebble beach with easy access, rock pools, beautiful blue water and tremendous walking routes. Lulworth Cove is a World Heritage Site and is also a part of the Jurassic Coast. This is one of the countries most beautiful secluded coves and a perfect location for dog owners in the south of England.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dovedale – Derbyshire<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dovedale is a picturesque valley in the Peak District. It offers a number of great walking routes for dogs and their owners and plenty of large grassy areas where you can take a rest. One of the most iconic features of Dovedale is its famous stepping stones – be careful not to slip and be cautious if taking Fido over these!<\/span><\/p>\n

Polperro – Cornwall<\/span><\/h2>\n

Once a thriving smuggler\u2019s paradise, this charming, old fishing village based on the South East coast of Cornwall is a wonderful location to take a slow stroll with your furry friend. You’ll need to stop plenty of times to take in your surroundings – admiring the cottages, steep hillsides and pretty harbour.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cannock Chase Forest – West Midlands<\/span><\/h2>\n

Cannock Chase Forest based in the West Midlands provides a variety of peaceful woodland walks and a specific dog activity trail! The activity trail is located on Pingle Slade and it lets you test your dog’s ability at fetching, weaving and jumping – an exciting challenge for you and your dog.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wells-next-the-Sea – Norfolk<\/span><\/h2>\n

One of the most attractive seaside towns on the Norfolk Coastline. Wells has a gorgeous beach that is bordered by pine woodland, a quaint harbour and much more. It is also home to the \u201cKennel Club award-winning\u201d Beach Cafe – the ideal place to wind down with your dog after a long day or the perfect location to charge your batteries!<\/span><\/p>\n

Platt Fields Park – Manchester<\/span><\/h2>\n

Platt Fields Park is a large public park conveniently located in the heart of Manchester and is a great location for keeping Fido fit and healthy either with a game of fetch or through exploring the 70 hectares! The park features a 6-acre lake with a central island, a number of colourful gardens, a community orchard and a boathouse – it\u2019s also home to Platt Hall.<\/span><\/p>\n

Powderham Castle – Exeter<\/span><\/h2>\n

For a more extreme activity that\u2019s also a charity fundraiser, why not head to Powderham Castle in Exeter? The Battersea Muddy Dog Challenge welcomes humans and dogs to take on a 2.5km or 5km obstacle run as a team. You can also enter on your own if you’d prefer but I’m sure most of you reading this will be taking your four-legged friend along for lots of muddy fun. This year the challenges will be taking place at 8 locations across the country, starting with Exeter on the 13th of April.
