With recent events at the Winter Olympics and President Trump\u2019s exchanges with the leaders of North and South Korea, there has been a lot of coverage in the news recently of the thaw in relations between these two countries. \u00a0Although far more accessible than North Korea, many of us know very little about South Korea yet more and more of us are driving cars that were manufactured there. We decided to feature a South Korean car brand in this blog post and glean more information about the brand and why it is gaining increasing traction on the roads of the UK. In 1991, Kia started selling cars in the UK, with a little under 1,800 cars sold in its first year. <\/span><\/p>\n

The name Kia means \u201crising out of Asia.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It is the oldest car manufacturer in South Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peter Schreyer, known for his design work at Audi and especially for the Audi TT, is the Chief Design Officer for Kia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company is based in Seoul, South Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n

Its <\/span>Hwasung manufacturing plant produces 114 cars an hour.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In March 2017 18,801 Kia\u2019s were sold in the UK that\u2019s a 3.34% share of the car sales market in the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n
