{"id":10343,"date":"2021-01-12T07:00:33","date_gmt":"2021-01-12T07:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.travall.com\/en-gb\/?p=10343"},"modified":"2021-01-05T14:39:51","modified_gmt":"2021-01-05T14:39:51","slug":"what-you-need-to-know-when-travelling-with-your-dog-to-the-eu-post-brexit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.travall.com\/en-gb\/what-you-need-to-know-when-travelling-with-your-dog-to-the-eu-post-brexit\/","title":{"rendered":"What you need to know when travelling with your dog to the EU post Brexit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although we\u2019re all currently in a new lockdown with travel restrictions in place, many of us have our sights set on travelling later in 2021.\u00a0 Did you know that now that the UK has withdrawn from the EU, current pet passports are no longer valid for travel to the EU or Northern Ireland?\u00a0 We detail what you need to know so that you have everything in place for travelling with your dog to the EU post Brexit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will need to get an Animal Health Certificate (AHC).\u00a0 To be eligible for an AHC your dog will need to adhere to the following criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your dog must be microchipped.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your dog will need to have been vaccinated against rabies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tapeworm treatment for your dog is required if travelling to Northern Ireland.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will need to wait 21 days after the vaccination before travel is permitted.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will need to get an AHC from your veterinarian 10 days prior to travelling.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The AHC is valid for 10 days after it has been issued for you to enter the EU or Northern Ireland but only through a designated Traveller\u2019s Point of Entry. It allows for 4 months of travel in the EU and re-entering the UK must take place within that time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When returning to the UK, your dog will require a tapeworm treatment 24 hours to 120 hours prior to your return.
