{"id":10058,"date":"2020-08-02T07:00:13","date_gmt":"2020-08-02T06:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.travall.com\/en-gb\/?p=10058"},"modified":"2020-08-02T07:00:13","modified_gmt":"2020-08-02T06:00:13","slug":"deep-cleaning-the-car-during-a-pandemic-tips-to-help-stay-virus-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.travall.com\/en-gb\/deep-cleaning-the-car-during-a-pandemic-tips-to-help-stay-virus-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Deep cleaning the car during a pandemic: tips to help stay virus free"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Some of us are fastidious about the cleanliness of our car\u2019s interiors and some of us are not.&nbsp; I must admit that my own car often gets a good cleaning on the outside, but a bit of rushed job on the interior.&nbsp; My approach has changed since the pandemic though.&nbsp; It has been known for a long time that a steering wheel of a car tends to be more germ ridden than a public toilet seat.&nbsp; So in the midst of&nbsp; a global pandemic I\u2019ve been taking extra measures to ensure that I\u2019m helping to reduce the spread of the virus by deep cleaning the car\u2026 regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before deep cleaning the car I\u2019ve been wearing a face mask and gloves for some added personal protection.&nbsp;Here are some of the things that I\u2019ve been doing to try to reduce bacteria and viruses in my own car.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The primary focus has been areas that are touched the most by the driver and passengers. So the steering wheel, gear stick, signalling levers, seatbelts, door handles, hand brake and stereo have had the most attention. For these I\u2019ve used disinfectant sprays on a daily basis.&nbsp; On a weekly basis I\u2019ve been wiping down the dashboard and cupholders with disinfectant and the touchscreens with a microfibre cloth.&nbsp; Air vents have also been tackled using a brush<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve replaced the original car mats with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"vehicle-specific rubber mats. (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.travall.co.uk\/rubber-car-mats\" target=\"_blank\">vehicle-specific rubber mats.<\/a>&nbsp; These are far easier to wipe down and clean, which is simply achieved with hot soapy water. The same is true in the boot of the car and I\u2019ve added a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travall.co.uk\/boot-mat-liner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"rubber boot liner (opens in a new tab)\">rubber boot liner<\/a> for an easy clean solution in case groceries or other items that I\u2019m carrying aren\u2019t as clean as I think.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve also added a pack of cleansing wipes to the car, for use when I\u2019m out and about. I\u2019ve also added a bottle of hand sanitiser for times when I can\u2019t wash my hands with soap and water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, it\u2019s not just my car that has been benefiting from a deep clean.
