Summer holiday planning: essentials to take when travelling with dogs

We’ve reached the season that for many is quite simply “the most wonderful time of the year.” In this case, I’m referring to summer.  It’s the part of the year when the weather in the UK is (mostly) drier and warmer, school holidays are on the horizon and families are getting excited at the prospect of taking some time together on a holiday.  If you’re currently doing some summer holiday planning yourself, we thought it might be helpful to give you a list of essentials to take if you’ll be travelling with dogs too.

If you’re travelling with dogs, there is a strong chance that at some point you are going to be in a car.  Ensuring your car is suitably equipped is essential to ensure that you avoid fines for having an unrestrained dog in your car.  The simple way to do this and be able to transport your luggage safely too is to add a Travall Guard and Divider.  Your pup has a secure position on the journey and is kept away from heavy luggage that might ordinarily slide into your dog’s space in transit.

Essentials for travelling with dogs:

Food and water bowls

Wet wipes and paper towels to clean up messes

Poo bags

Dog food and additional treats

Pet toys

First aid kit

Leash and harness

Copy of vet documentation (immunizations etc) for emergencies plus microchip details.

Pet passport if travelling to the continent.

Basic grooming supplies

Bedding (such as a blanket so that your dog has familiar smells from home)

Wherever you intend to travel this summer, we wish you the best of times with your dog and hope you all enjoy the journey.
