Halloween season is among us and the things that go bump in the night are starting to awaken. This article is not for the faint-of-heart, so turn back now or read on if you dare. If you’re looking for a spook or two this Halloween, these haunting attractions in this list will deliver it. We’ve compiled some of the UK’s top Halloween attractions that are sure to leave you coming back and frightened for more.

1) Alton Towers Scarefest
The infamous Alton Towers Scarefest is an annual occurrence that sees tens of thousands flock to the Staffordshire theme park. Scarefest usually runs for a couple of weeks throughout October to early November and there really is something for all the family! The theme park stays open until late so you can enjoy the thrilling rides in the dark. For the young ghouls, there are live shows and for those who are older, there are a handful of chilling scare mazes with a fright around every corner!
2) Dinosaur Half Term Halloween Horrors
Torquay’s Dinosaur World gets invaded with Halloween Horrors on the 20th of October to the 28th to offer over a week of Halloween fun. Your children will have the chance to save the dinosaurs from the wicked witch and ghastly ghouls. The attraction is open every day during the selected dates from 11 am with last entries at 3.30 pm. The park closes at 5 pm.
3) Screamfest
Based in Burton-on-Trent, Screamfest is an annual Halloween scare attraction that always delights. This year there are 5 scare attractions as well as live entertainment, so scares and laughs are guaranteed.
(Please note: Screamfest It is not recommended for under 12s and anyone under the age of 14 will have to be accompanied by an adult.)
4) Glasgow Horror Festival 2018
The Glasgow Horror Festival returns to the Classic Grand on the 27th of October. It’s Scotland’s premier Halloween attraction that offers both frights and delights. The festival includes bizarre performers, chilling movies, panels, raffle prizes and much more! It’s your chance to experience an action-packed weekend of haunting Halloween entertainment.
5) Lil’ Park of Horrors
Lil’ Park of Horrors offers a spooktastic adventure for the entire family. It is based in Mansfield, Nottingham and is open from the 13th of October to the 4th of November. There is more treat than trick with this fangtastic attraction that is a must for everyone. This year there will be creepy competitions, a boo barn, craft workshops, pumpkin carving and more!
6) The Haunted Castle
Between the 20th of October and 4th of November, Warwick Castle comes alive and becomes The Haunted Castle. It is a fun but fearsome Halloween attraction with horrible histories, witches and spooktacular shows! The Haunted Castle offers frights and delight in many forms with something for everyone.
7) Scream Factory
The multi-award winning Scream Factory, based in Redcar, is the North East’s largest haunting Halloween attraction. It will be scaring and tormenting those who dare visit this October for 13 nights of terror. To create a more sinister experience, Scream Factory is set in the grounds of an old haunted nursery. Will you face your worst nightmares?
8) Terror Mountain
Are you feeling brave? You’ll need to be for this one! Terror Mountain returns on October the 19th and on a few select dates during the month. It is set in a genuine Victorian silver mine just outside Aberystwyth in Wales, and offers 4 live action horror attractions for a night of genuine terror! Will you brave them all?

9) Monster Magic at Gulliver’s
The perfect haunting attraction for your little monsters! You can experience the frightening fun from Saturday the 13th of October. Monster Magic will give you and your family a chance to enjoy Trick and Treat activities, scary characters, face painting and lots more. Also, a select few characters from the recent Hotel Transylvania 3 movie will be appearing throughout the day at each of the three parks. The parks are located in Warrington, Milton Keynes and Matlock Bath.
10) Ghouls & Gruffalo’s Welly Walk
Ghouls & Gruffalo’s Welly Walk will be opening on the 27th of October to the 2nd of November at Colin Glen Forest Park in Belfast. It’s going to be a light-hearted Halloween attraction for the kiddies! The event includes a storytelling session before adventuring through the forest on a guided walk, trying to find the ghosts en route. There will also be pumpkin carving opportunities after the walk!
11) Xtreme Scream Park
For a truly terrifying experience, Xtreme Scream Park will not disappoint. It’s held at Melton Mowbray, Leicester and is definitely not for children. It is a multi-award-winning scream park and has been officially nominated for the best 2018 scream park in the UK. If you have your wits about you and are looking for a real fright then this is the perfect attraction. This haunting Halloween attraction opens on the 28th of September. Do you dare to attend?
