In 1991, Kia started selling cars in the UK, with a little under 1,800 cars sold in its first year.

The name Kia means “rising out of Asia.”

It is the oldest car manufacturer in South Korea.

Peter Schreyer, known for his design work at Audi and especially for the Audi TT, is the Chief Design Officer for Kia.

The company is based in Seoul, South Korea.

Its Hwasung manufacturing plant produces 114 cars an hour.

In March 2017 18,801 Kia’s were sold in the UK that’s a 3.34% share of the car sales market in the UK.
