Travall started as a traditional family business in the heart of Derbyshire over 30 years ago. Although this time may have passed in a flash for the founders of the business, we recognise that the world is a very different place today. People worldwide are now far more environmentally aware. We all realise that the world faces many issues relating to the environment. These range from climate change through to scarce resources. Travall’s focus is to help people and pets enjoy the journey no matter where their travels take them. Caring for the planet has motivated us to embrace environmentally friendly practices throughout the business. As a result, we strive to follow an ecologically conscious and sustainable approach. Corporate social responsibility matters to us and we take it so seriously that sustainability truly is second nature at Travall.
How does Travall approach its corporate social responsibility?
We know how important it is to have a low carbon footprint. To achieve this we use raw materials from steel mills in the UK to make our guards and dividers. When sourcing products and services, we make sure that third parties also comply with our standards.
Our vehicle-specific dog guards and dividers are known for the special coating that is unique to Travall. The guards and dividers are all coated with Rilsan®. This tough nylon powder derives quite simply from castor oil. The plant-based formula is free of heavy metal-based pigments and curing agents, and it does not release harmful gases. Consequently our guards and dividers are not only durable but are environmentally sound.
Travall’s production site is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery that have three key aims – maximising throughput, reducing energy usage, minimising waste. We also try to supply products with the least amount of packaging, yet still being able to protect the product inside. With this in mind, we use recycled cardboard to package all of our car accessories. The box design perfectly fits the products in order to reduce waste.
Environmental checks are part of our annual Quality Assurance audit. We are proud to be certified for environmental management by the British Standards Institution.
In what other ways does Travall show corporate social responsibility?
Travall and its employees try to give back to the community where possible. Examples include our employees’ donation of pet products to the local RSPCA shelter and a moustache-growing fundraiser for the Movember Foundation.
Our plant-adorned offices help to ensure cleaner air and a healthier indoor environment for our employees. With paperless offices, a recycling collection area, and the use of energy saving appliances and lighting, we take our corporate social responsibility seriously in every aspect of our business.
