Celebrating 70 years of National Parks UK

The UK offers some stunningly beautiful scenery, some of the most gorgeous of which is found in its 15 National Parks (10 in England, 2 in Scotland and 3 in Wales).  This year, we’re celebrating 70 years of National Parks UK, so we’re taking the opportunity to highlight these fantastic destinations to give you inspiration for your next adventure.

Brecon Beacons – These 4 hill ranges in South Wales offer the perfect setting for anyone wanting to mountain bike or hike in the hills.

Broads – An area of over 200km of waterways, this National Park is a must-see especially if you like the idea of spending some quality time on a boat or you fancy fishing for bream on the banks of the River Thurne.

Cairngorms – By far the largest of the National Parks UK, the Cairngorms offers a diverse landscape from mountains to pine forests and a broad diversity of wildlife.

Dartmoor – An area of vast moorland with distinct granite tors, this wilderness offers a great place to walk or cycle in a landscape dotted with wild ponies.

Exmoor – From moorland to coastline, the Exmoor National Park is a firm favourite among walkers.

Lake District – Also a World Heritage Site, the stunning lakes and hills of the Lake District National Park are not to be missed if you’re a walker or trail runner.

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs – More than 20 lochs, woodland and mountain make up this dramatic landscape that’s very popular for boating, climbing and hiking.

New Forest – Formerly the royal hunting ground, the heathlands and woodland in this south coast area make the perfect destination for active families.

Northumberland – Europe’s largest area of protect night sky and also home to the incredible Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland National Park offers the ideal tranquil escape for all ages.

North York Moors – Ideal for cyclists and walkers who will enjoy tackling its coastline, woodland or hills.

Peak District – A highly recommended destination by Travall employees as this National Park is right on our doorstep – we may be slightly bias, but it’s a stunning area offering a wide diversity of possible outdoor activities. A particular favourite if you enjoy rock climbing.

Pembrokeshire – The only fully coastal National Park in the UK, the Pembrokeshire National Park boasts stunning sandy beaches perfect for surfing or body boarding.

Snowdonia – The Snowdonia mountain range sits at the heart of this National Park, but the coastline and villages in this breathtaking area are not to be missed either. Don your walking boots for a stiff climb, or take it easier and enjoy the sights on the mountain railway.

South Downs – Dramatic cliffs, ancient woodland and rolling hills make up this area that is perfect for cycling adventures thanks to its extensive paths and cycle routes.

Yorkshire Dales – Whatever your level of fitness the Yorkshire Dales offers something, so whether you’re up to a gentle stroll or want to ride a horse for miles, you can – surrounded by beautiful scenery and charming stone villages.
